HOW TO DO A SITTING TROT
July, 1st
SITTING TROT:
First and foremost, to practice your sitting trot, STAND UP! Standing up in the stirrups while trotting is one of the first steps to gaining real balance.
Now you need to sit STRAIGHT UP, not in a jumping position, leaning over. Now you might be wobbling around you there, yes?

You must learn to absorb the movement through your joints - hip, knee and ankle joint. This allows your sitting trot to stand a chance of being good too.

If you struggle to stand with a tiny gap between your pubic bone and the saddle standing fully, your stirrups are too long to aid your balance. Your heels will also be up in the stirrups, if this occurs.

Whereas, if the gap is far too big when you stand, your stirrups are too short.
Good luck with your exercise and have fun!
